With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of a truly wonderful man whose kindness, generosity, and sense of humour touched all who knew him.

Larry Witmer passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at the Marotta Family Hospital on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the age of 87.

For Larry, family and friends were at the heart of everything. A devoted partner and best friend to his beloved wife, Sheila (nee Morgan), he treasured the life they built together over 59 wonderful years.

A loving and supportive dad to Scott and Sheri, and a proud Papa to Michael and Morgan. Larry thought the world of his children and grandchildren, creating many cherished memories together.

Predeceased by his loving mother, Sarah Venning, he was a caring brother to his sister Susie Albano and a beloved uncle to nine nieces and nephews and their families.

Decades of laughter, fishing trips, stories, and unforgettable gatherings were shared with his close-knit TDK group, friendships he cherished deeply.

For 30 years, Larry dedicated himself to education as an elementary school teacher and principal. He believed deeply in the goodness and potential of every child and was known for the patience, encouragement, and grace he showed his students. Long after leaving his school, former students would often stop to tell him how much his kindness and support had meant to them.

Larry appreciated life’s simple pleasures: good music, a good book, and time spent watching the boats go by in his hometown of Port Colborne. Quick with a witty comment and always ready for a laugh, he was known for his easygoing nature, playful humour, and warm smile.

Deeply loved, respected and cherished, his loss will be profoundly felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

In keeping with Larry’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will gather for a celebration of life.
